The Return of Scott Walker
Well he hasn't really been away, though it has taken him a few years to follow up 'Tilt' his last vocal album. (Pola X being film music).
Its another step into stripped down scaryness that has been gathering excellent reviews and notices.
"Fuck me, this is terrifying! .... Everything is ghostly, drifty,
abstract, croony, brooding" (Momus)
The Drift reviewed @ Pitchfork
The Drift reviewed @ Brainwashed
His new label 4AD has excellent links to a microsite and other fan sites.
There is even a 10 minute segment of Scott being interviewed on The Culture Show up on YouTube
I've now listened to The Drift a few times and it is a difficult listen but it will repay your attention with some of the most innovative music you will hear in a long time. Its available to download at eMusic.
